DSE Market Commentary @ July 14, 2021

  • Welcome to the 2nd week during this phase of nationwide strict lockdown, trading at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has began today on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.
  • Today trading started at DSE with a positive movement from the very beginning with a steady sidewise rise.
  • At DSE, trading has been started with a new trading time frame of 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM (with 9:45 AM – 10:00 AM as Pre-Opening session and 1:00 PM – 2:15 PM as Post Closing session) in relation with the extended time of operation for Banks declared by Bangladesh Bank.
  • Bangladesh recorded 203 deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours as the death tally hovers above the 200-mark for the third day in a row. At least 12,198 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 10,47,155. The positivity rate slightly dropped to 29.21% from the previous day’s 31.24%, as the death rate stood at 1.61%, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
  • Among the 203 deceased, 132 were men and 71 women. Of them, six were aged between 21 and 30, 12 between 31 and 40, 28 between 41 and 50, 39 between 51 and 60, and 118 above 60, added the release. The country has been witnessing a surge in new cases due to the spread of the Delta variant of Coronavirus.
  • By 11:02 AM now, market is moving sidewise as DSEX is currently at 1649 points, so far +22.14765 points or +0.35346% form yesterday.
  • By 11:38 AM now, the capital market is experiencing a downtrend for around last 1 hour but still running green as DSEX is at 77414 points right now. Still +4.75686 points or +0.07592% form yesterday.
  • By 12:46 PM now. Market has been falling continuously but slowly to go RED as DSEX is currently at 03113 points which is so far -6.98615 points or -0.11149% from previous day.
  • Seems like there have been enough sell pressure from investor.
  • After 12:48 PM market has started to bounce back strongly as DSEX was 6256 points at that moment of time and kept rising sidewise steady till the end of today’s trading session with few short dips.
  • Now 2:15 PM, after Post-Closing session, at the end of today’s (Wednesday, July 14, 2021) trading, Dhaka Stock Exchange, the Dhaka bourse of the capital market ended in the GREEN zone amid see-saw trading, while the key index DSEX, inched up by +0.11671% or +7.31307 points, to close at 6273.33035 points in the session.
  • At the end of today’s trading, Market Turnover has slightly fallen again and closed over Taka 1,600 crore range (TK. 16488.975 mn). It has decreased by over Taka 19 crore (Tk. 196.167 mn) , -1.17570% from previous day’s turnover of Tk. 16685.142 mn.
  • Today a total of 373 company’s shares were traded. Among which prices have increased for 166 companies, prices have decreased for 174 companies and 33 companies have seen its prices remained unchanged.

  • The prime index of the stock market jumped to a more than three-and-a-five-year high amidst Pre-Eid sell-pressure aggravated by firm participation by the investors.
  • The afresh stimulus packages of BDT 320BN for low-income people is expected to positively motivate investors’ sentiment on the bourse.
  • Also Stocks continued to rise for the second consecutive day today because it seems there have been increased participation of institutional investors.
  • However, some investors rushed towards rumor-based junk stocks as a result many small capped issues topped the hailing top chart board.
  • Today’s  SECTORwise trading at DSE have seen TEXTILE sector to be at top with over 15% of today’s market share followed by Pharmaceuticals & Chemicals sector.
  • BEXIMCO (Bangladesh Export Import Company Ltd.) has again topped the list for highest traded shares in terms of total traded value of Tk.  1,198.8120 mn.
  • GQBALLPEN (GQ Ball Pen Industries Ltd. has topped the list of most % price change with 9.975% price increase followed by PAPERPROC , TAMIJTEX , BENGALWTL , SPCERAMICS , MONNOFABR , ACTIVEFINE for which share prices have increased over 9.5%.
