DSE Market Commentary @ July 15, 2021

  • Welcome to the 2nd week during this phase of nationwide strict lockdown, trading at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE)  has began today on Thursday, July 15, 2021.
  • Today trading started at DSE with a positive movement from the very beginning with a sharp rise.
  • At DSE, trading has been started with a new trading time frame of 10:00 AM – 2:30 PM (with 9:45 AM – 10:00 AM as Pre-Opening session and 1:00 PM – 2:45 PM as Post Closing session) in relation with the extended time of operation for Banks declared by Bangladesh Bank.
  • Only two trading days, Sunday and Monday are left before Eid-ul-Azha.

  • Bangladesh recorded 226 deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours as the death tally continues to hover above the 200-mark. At least 12,236 new infections were recorded during the period.
  • By 10:28 AM now market is rising sharply with a positive movement as DSEX is currently at 6296.19 points.
  • By 11:00 AM, the first hour of today’s trading, DSEX is at 6289.93 points with experiencing few dips within last 40 minutes.
  • By 12:12 PM now, DSE has been experiencing continuous fall in for more than last 40 minutes (since 11:28 AM) as  DSEX has fallen to  6279.7 points at this moment of time.
  • By 1:42 PM now, DSEX has crossed 6300 points mark for the first time after 42-months as market has been steadily rising for last 90 minutes (since 12:!2 PM) and DSEX is currently at  6301.95 points.

  • Now 2:45 PM, after Post-Closing session, at the end of today’s (Thursday, July 15, 2021)trading, Dhaka Stock Exchange charged up by investors heightened optimism across all the major sectors while the benchmark index, DSEX crossed 6300 points mark and stood at 6307.35674 points with an increase of +34.02639 points or +0.5424% to reach more than 3-year-6-month (around 42 months) high.
  • At the end of today’s trading, Market Turnover has risen attractively and closed between Taka 1,700-1800 crore ranges (Taka 17898.564 mn). It has increased by over Taka 140 crore (Taka. 1,409.589 mn) , +8.54868%  from previous day’s turnover of Taka. 16,488.975 mn.
  • Today a total of 375 company’s shares were traded. Among which prices have increased for 270 companies, prices have decreased for 79 companies and 26 companies have seen its prices remained unchanged.

  • Today’s  SECTORwise trading at DSE have seen  Miscellaneous sector has topped with nearly 14% of today’s market share to dethrone the TEXTILE sector to the 2nd position
  • BEXIMCO (Bangladesh Export Import Company Ltd.) has again topped the list for highest traded shares in terms of total traded value of Taka. 1,723.2250 mn.
  • PADMALIFEhas topped the list of most % price change with 10% price increase followed by JUTESPINN (9.969%), PAPERPROC (9.931%), CAPMBDBLMF (9.924%), SAIFPOWER (9.746%), BENGALWTL (9.738%), SPCERAMICS (9.603%) price increases.
  • Today the market opened on a positive and the upbeat trend sustained till the end as the government relaxed the ongoing strict lockdown before Eid amid the resumption of vaccine roll-out.
  • DSE observed full-day trading today and the first day of relaxed lockdown sparked a rally beating worries of rising Covid cases in the country. The prime index of the Dhaka Stock (DSEX) surpassed the 6,300-mark today as buying binge added strength to the equity indices despite worries over the virus-infused shock to the country’s economy.
  • Stocks remained mostly bullish amid growing investors’ confidence driven by various market supportive measures taken by the regulator which lured the investors to park fresh funds on stocks.
  • Removal of the floor price restriction, budgetary measures, lower returns from the money market and several regulatory reforms to build a vibrant capital market encouraged investors to put a fresh stake in stocks.

  • The Market Capitalization of the DSE also hit a fresh all-time high at Taka 5,252 billion on Thursday, surpassing the previous record high of Taka 5,219 billion recorded just two days back.
