After series of uptrend in the total turnover of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), today on Thursday (May 20, 2021) the investors in DSE has experienced a drop in both the benchmark index DSEX and total transaction value of the traded shares after record turnover over Tk. 2,000 crore from previous day (May 19, 2021). Observing today’s market trading pattern seems general investors were in the profit booking tendency.
DSEX, at start of the today’s trading jumped to 5900 point momentarily but continuous to fall throughout the day and ended on 5813.06900 points, a noticeable fall of 60.06819 points (-60.06819 points) or a 1.02276% decline (-1.02276% fall) compared to its previous day’s (May 19, 2021) value of 5873.13719 points. The other two indices at DSE have also decreased on this day. The DSES decreased by 9.59867 points (-9.59867 points) and the DS30 decreased by 22.53013 points. (-22.53013 points).
The money transaction, the total value of traded shares have also slumped by 21.26019% (a -21.26019% fall) to around Taka 1,652 crore (Tk. 16527.892 mn), a drop of around Taka 446 crore (Tk. 4462.6230 mn) from its previous day’s (May 19, 2021) value of over Taka 2,000 crore (Tk. 20,990.515 mn). The turnover on the previous day was increased by a whopping 22.06384%.
On Thursday (May 20, 2021) at DSE, total 359 company’s shares were traded. Among which price increased for only 68 companies whereas price decreased for a noticeable 234 companies. Price for 57 companies remained unchanged.
Beximco Limited (BEXIMCO) became the top traded stock with shares worth over Taka 213 crore (Tk. 2,139.7750 mn) hanging hands followed by LankaBangla Finance (Tk. 455.8530mn), Prime Bank (Tk. 379.5400 mn), NRB Commercial Bank (Tk. 367.5470 mn), and Saif Powertec (Tk. 366.2750 mn).
On the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), the overall index CASPI fell by 214.8013 points (a -214.8013 points), a -1.2597 % decrease from previous day’s trading . The index stands at 16837.6495 points. Shares worth Taka 99.10 crore (tk. 991,080,223 mn) were traded on the CSE. A total of 282 companies and mutual funds traded on the CSE. Of these, 42 have increased, 199 have decreased and 41 have remained unchanged.
